Smekalov’s exhibition welcomes the visitor into a pictorial universe characterized by balance and harmonies of shapes, colors and compositions. The subjects are interiors, figures and still life whose colors are soft and balanced. Every single element of the paintings is essential but all together they create a mild and almost magical atmosphere. Smekalov’s artistic training is also rich in references to Italian painting, such as Giorgio Morandi and Felice Casorati. Looking at Smekalov’s works we meet the pages of an intimate and personal diary, which speaks of a sign that becomes figure, object, memory.
The exhibition will be open till November 26, 2017.
