EDGARDO CORBELLI, EXPRESSION OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY (1918 – 1989)
The Councilorship of Culture of the Municipality of Carmagnola presents the exhibition “Edgardo Corbelli, expression of the twentieth century (1918 – 1989)”, curated by the Pirra Art Gallery, at Palazzo Lomellini from August, 30 to October, 13 2019.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the death of Edgardo Corbelli, a large retrospective pays tribute to his art and to his creative dynamism.
From the traditional composition of the 1930s, the painting of Corbelli leads to technical and expressive results dominated by an impetuous sign assimilated, among others, by Oskar Kokoschka at the Academy in Salzburg in 1958. This evolution comes to an expressionist language highly communicative that characterizes its landscapes, portraits, female figures and nudes.
The more than 70 works exposed, mainly oils, but also watercolors and drawings, witness the incessant search for a precise artistic identity and the intense historical and human story of Edgardo Corbelli.
