Xu De Qi was born in 1964, Jinan (Shandong, China). In 1991 he graduated from Shandong Normal University, where he is currently Professor.
Since 2000, in addition to exhibiting his works in the most important Chinese museums and galleries, he began to make himself known in Europe and America, obtaining growing success since 2010, when he participated in the “2nd International Biennale of Contemporary Art” in Sabbioneta (near Mantova), and in “Stemperando International Art Exhibition” in Rome and Turin.
In 2011: “China Flower” at Miami Kavachnina Art Gallery; “China flower series” at the General Consulate of Italy in Shanghai; “China flower series” at the Sebastian Foundation in Mexico City.
In 2012 he participated in the collective exhibition set up in occasion of the Olympic Games “2012 London Olympic Fine Arts”.
In 2014 solo exhibition “New Works” at the He He Art Gallery in Jinan and “Color of China” at the National Art Museum of Hohhot. The same year he took part to “Art Paris Art Fair” at the Grand Palais in Paris and in the exhibitions “Nuvole di Drago” and “China Emotion” at Laura Peluso Gallery in Milan.
In 2015 he exhibited at the 56TH Venice Biennale in the “Friendship Project”, a program of cultural exchange between the Republic of San Marino and the People’s Republic of China at the Official Pavilion of the Republic of San Marino.
In 2016 he made two solo exhibitions, the first at the Qingzhou International Cultural Art Exhibition, the second at the Studiolo Gallery in Milan entitled “Xu De Qi and Zhang Hongmei, Art Dialogues”.
2017 is the year of the beautiful exhibition entitled “Xu De Qi Life, Faces, Memories of China” set up in the Republic of San Marino.
In 2018 he is protagonist of a solo exhibition at the Madeinartgallery in Milan. He exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale and at the Contemporary Art Fair ArtVerona.
In 2019 he participated in the group exhibition “China Art Now” at Palazzo Sant’Elia in Palermo.
He exhibited at the 58th Venice Biennale in the “Friendship Project” at Palazzo Bollani. Solo exhibition at the Coral Spring Museum of Art, Coral Spring (Florida, Usa).
In 2020 solo exhibition at the Pirra Art Gallery, Turin (Italy).
