SUMMARY:FARFA. Vittorio Osvaldo Tommasini
DESCRIPTION:Farfa\, the eclectic genius of the Second Futurism \nIn collaboration with Galleria Vico Spinola\, Savona \nCatalogue on site \nAn eclectic artist and a complete intellectual\, Vittorio Osvaldo Tommasini\, known as Farfa (Trieste 1879/1881 – Sanremo 1964)\, is one of the most original and fascinating figures on the Second Futurism scene. His work spans an extraordinary variety of expressive languages\, including paintings\, works on paper\, ceramics\, and poetry\, testifying to a volcanic creative personality capable of continually reinventing itself. However\, it is in the Futurist aesthetic that Farfa reaches his highest expression\, giving the movement a personal style characterized by irony\, imagination\, and a distinctly unconventional taste. Thanks to this original interpretation of Futurism\, the artist established himself as a leading figure\, as enigmatic as he was innovative\, placing himself in a strategic position between the Ligurian and Turin schools. The exhibition presents over thirty works\, offering a broad journey through the different seasons of Farfa’s artistic exploration. The public will be able to admire a rich collection of works created with different techniques\, including the famous Futurist cartopitture – collages that represent one of the most significant moments of his production – oil paintings\, pastels\, watercolors\, tempera\, charcoal\, and mixed media. The exhibition is completed by a rare artist’s stool and a singular futurist door\, evidence of his inexhaustible creative experimentation. The exhibition itinerary covers a broad chronological span\, from the 1920s to the 1960s\, presenting the evolution of an artist who was able to traverse decades of exploration while keeping his inventive freedom and nonconformist spirit intact. An opportunity to rediscover Farfa not only as a leading figure of Futurism\, but as a multifaceted artist\, capable of combining experimentation\, poetry\, and a surprisingly modern worldview.
